I'm super new to blogging. I really enjoy it, and I've realized that I'd love to grow my blog. I love reading The Lazy Organizer. When I saw her post announcement for Talk About Tuesday, I knew I had to participate.
I've been reading a lot of articles about how to grow a blog. So many articles, in fact, that I'm extremely overwhelmed. But I have learned something key. I need to figure out my goals for my blog. At this point, it's just an outlet. It's something fun I can do. It's relaxing. But I'm not necessarily sure that everybody wants to read about me. So, PLEASE, help me. How did you decide what you wanted to blog about?

Welcome to the blogging world! I mainly write about things that important to me and things that could possibly help other people. If I find something interesting, or think of something interesting, I'll post it.
It's also great to get involved in blog carnivals like Talk About Tuesday. It brings new readers to your blog, and you have a great opportunity to visit other blogs as well.
Don't be discouraged if you don't have a following right away, or if your comments are low. I have been blogging since May and it's only very recently that I have started to get comments. Also, there are alot of lurkers that still read your blog, but just don't comment!
Good luck!
I've been blogging since 2004 but I've never really been too interested in "growing" my blog. I appreciate when people read it and comment. But, I mainly blog for me. Sometimes I have special posts that I'd like for more people to read--like in April I blog about autism awareness every day. If I use specific keywords I know I can get a few people from web searches that way.
I agree with amber, too. Blog carnivals are a great way to network.
I started my blog just over a year ago because my family was moving out of state & away from everyone we knew. Friends of mine had blogs & I thought it would be a great way to keep in touch with people we wouldn't see anymore. It has developed into an outlet for myself, and a forum for me to talk about pretty much whatever I want. I don't have one specific focus like Lazy does {organizing} but I do include things that interest me. Scrapbooking, organizing, my attempts at decorating and my dislike of cooking. It's been fun. Remember, you can always change your goals in the future. I'd say be yourself and the rest will develop from there.
HEY! WELCOME! This is a great way to start growing your readership! Lara has many loyal readers and they are very supportive and helpful! You can also convince your BFF to start one too so that you always have at least one comment - like me :-D I coerced Rebecca up there^^^^ into the bloggy world so I would always have at least ONE person who reads!!! ;-) I also find being funny helps too :-D Good luck!
Welcome to the blogging world!
I think my advice is similar to the advice I give to all high school graduates, newlyweds, first-time moms, and just about anyone embarking on a new adventure. Take all that advice everyone keeps giving you about how to do it right, listen to it, consider it, and then throw it out the window.
Ultimately you need to find what works for you and what makes you happy. Now, that doesn't mean you have to start from scratch. It's great to have the trail blazed before us so that we can follow behind even easier. But just because an expert says it worked for them does not mean you have to do it or that it will even work for you.
Do what makes you happy. For me, it was giving up the idea that I would ever be able to participate in everything available in the blogosphere. Instead, I talk about what interests me at the moment and participate in the memes and carnivals that I feel are uplifting or applicable to me. I may choose to find a niche to fill later, but right now I'm just enjoying the journey.
We can work on this together!!!
My site is just a hodgepodge of info, although I do participate in several weekly posts...like Talk About Tuesday and Wordless Wednesday!
Welcome! I didn't blog for too many days before I started talking a lot about organizing. Find something you are obsessed with and go for it! I have to say though that I mostly blog for myself. I write what I'm interested in at the moment. If I start blogging for other people it starts to feel like a chore and I stop doing it.
What kinds of blogs do you like to read. What do you like best about them? Use those ideas in your own blog as well. I like to read blogs about homemaking. I like sarcasm. I like lots of photos. I try to include those things in my posts.
